INCOMING PROGRAMME & LIVING IN OVIEDO

Accomodation:
We usually rent flats between the city center and the hospital for incomings. Most of the times the flats have 2 to 3 double bedrooms, so you would probably have a room-mate.
Flats are basically equiped, they often have washing-machine, microwave and kitchen. (sometimes the may have also owen and TV).

Provided Lunch:
We usually give students "pocket money" (around 70€) instead of lunch tickets.

Internet connection:
The flats don't have internet connection, and although there is a wireless network in the hospital, it does not works pretty well. Therefore we sugget you to use the free wi-fi connection provided in the city community centers ("centros sociales") spread all over the city. You can check the list of community centers here. The centers usually open in spanish working timetable (9am-14pm and from 16pm to 8pm) but they might change timetable during summer.

Public Transport withing Oviedo:
Althoug the flats are usually not far from the hospital (10-20min walking or even less), you may need to take public transport to go to the malls or to get fast to the city center.
"Transportes Unidos de Asturias" (TUA) is the local company of public transport buses.
Lines cross the city in a radial design so it is always easy to go from outside the city to the city center and the other way around, however changin from one neighbourhood to another may be more complicated.
Normal ticket costs 1€, however with a "univesitary bus card"it can be around 77cents. You may get that card in some newpaper shops in the city center asking for "tajeta univesritaria de bus". You will have to pay 2 -3€ for the card itself, and then you can recharge 10 trips for 7.7€ in the same shop.
L1 ends/starts next to the hospital and ends/starts in a very big mall (parque principado) in a near village (Siero).

GETTING AROUND "HUCA" HOSPITAL
You are going to do your cleckship in the Universitary Center Hospital of Asturias (HUCA in spanish). It's a third level hospital, with a bit more of 1 million people refered to it.
It is located in the western side of the city called "el Cristo".
